5 Tips for Spending More Time in the Kitchen

If you’ve arrived at this article, you’re likely concerned about the amount of fast food you’re eating and subsequently feeding your family.

These days, our work-life balance is off-kilter, and we spend the majority of our lives in a stressed-out frenzy, just trying to make it through each day without losing it. The good news is that you’re not alone, and there are ways that you can improve the time you spend in your kitchen.

It will mean taking time out of your hectic schedule, but it will be a healthy change that your mind and body crave. Below are five tips to make the time you spend in your kitchen more enjoyable and ultimately healthier for both you and your family:

1. Try New Recipes

As we get older, we all get to know adult problems exceptionally well. These include things such as – never-ending laundry and never knowing what to make for dinner.

Cooking a meal for your family that is both healthy and tasty shouldn’t need to be a tall order. With the advent of the internet, you have no excuse for constantly serving up the same dull meals.

Try experimenting with new and exciting recipes, and before you know it – you will have some new family favorites. You can even use these recipes to decorate your kitchen; read more on that here.

2. Repaint

No one would blame you for not wanting to spend time in a drab kitchen. Luckily for you, repainting is neither expensive nor time-consuming. Take a trip to your local home improvement store and get some paint swatches to bring home.

Once you’ve chosen your favorite color, all you’ll need is a few friends and a weekend – when you’re done; it will feel like a whole new room – and an inviting one at that.

3. Sharpen Your Knives

Dull knives are frustrating to use, and they are also incredibly dangerous. So many accidents that happen globally in kitchens can be blamed on dull and horrible knives.

Invest some money in a decent set of knives and a good quality knife sharpener stone. That will make the time spent preparing and cooking meals for your family so much more enjoyable.

4. Get A Fun New Backsplash

If your wall has a dreary old backsplash, you’ll be less inclined to spend time in it. Backsplashes protect your kitchen floors and walls from the dirt, grime, and bacteria that build up over time.

That gross mess will eat away at those surfaces, leaving the area prone to mold and mildew. A fun new backsplash will add an instant pop of color to the room and make it a happier place to spend time in.

5. Install A Double Sink

If there is one thing that every kitchen owner will tell you, it’s that you must install a double sink. Double sinks make cleaning up a cinch after cooking, and they provide you with an area to prepare your vegetables and meat.

If you can, spring for the best quality one you can find – the last thing you want is for it tarnishes long before its time.
