Start Here (custom buttons) - v 2.2

Start Here is the most customizable custom buttons app available for Control4.  It's ideal for commercial meeting rooms, restaurants and bars and residential installations too.  It's proved very popular.

We have now taken the original App and added many new features based on dealer requests.  The new Version 2 with multiple pages is suitable for larger commercial installations.

Multiple Pages
One of the restrictions with the original Start Here App was that it only allowed you to create a single page of buttons.  In Version 2 you can have as many pages of buttons as you require.  You get full control in programming to allow you to flip between pages and back to your starting page.

This allows you to create an in-depth custom interface with areas of the screen changing as different sources are selected.

New Button Features
We've added new functionality to the buttons themselves.

Hot & Cold States
Each button has a 'Hot' and 'Cold' state.  Buttons can automatically act as bell presses showing the user when they are pressed.  You can also set the Hot and Cold States through programming.  This makes it easy to show which source is selected or if a light is on or off.

Button Text
You can now change the button text by Custom Programming. This allows you to use buttons to provide feedback.

Button Color
You can also change the button color in Custom Programming further enhancing the feedback options.

Logo Graphic
This too can be changed in Custom Programming

All these features add up to much more intelligent buttons.

Page Definition Files
In the original version you had to define the page layout using the driver properties.  This was time consuming and meant that you couldn't share page definitions between rooms or projects.  With Start Here V2 pages are defined in simple page defintion files which you save on the master controller.  This enables you to share definition files between rooms in the same project or to easily re-use them in other projects.  This can significantly reduce set up and installation time.

Intelligent Programming
To cut down the amount of programming that is required a button position in the definition file can be defined as 'Ignore'.  These buttons are shown on the first page that loads but on subsequent pages the positions are ignored.  This means that any state feedback for lighting etc is not overwritten between page flips.

You can also select whether you want the 'Back' button on the Control4 interface to step back through your Start Here pages or to immediately exit the App.

Upgrading from V1
Any existing Start Here installation can be upgraded to V2 for free.  However we have designed the new app and driver so that you do not have to upgrade existing systems unless you want to.

If you update the App on an existing system but not the driver then the App will continue to work as before.  No new features are enabled.  This is to protect your existing installations in case the user updates their Apps.

To get the new features you must update the App AND the Driver to Version 2.  This will mean defining all of your pages again in the new format.  Unfortunately there is no way of automatically upgrading the page definitions to the V2 format.

As with all apps this is purchased from the Control4 4Store.  You will need to download and install the FREE driver first, then you will need to purchase via a Control4 interface on the system.  More Details Here >>

Be sure to check out the images to the right including some examples by Marc Whitman from Control4 on how you could use the app in different scenarios.

We offer a FREE copy of this app to all Control4 dealers.  Just make a request for yours via our helpdesk - don't forget to provide your 4Store account name!

Please note 4Store Apps are NOT currently available on the iPhone or iPad interfaces.
